Pre-Event Information Session on XR Technologies for Students of Balıkesir University Vocational School
An information session was held for students of the Electrical Program in the Department of Electrical and Energy at Balıkesir University Vocational School (MYO) with the aim of strengthening industry integration and raising awareness about current technologies. The event will be conducted by Ozan Kırcı, who serves as Lead Trainer Specialist – EMEA at GE Vernova.
During the information session, the students were provided with basic information about XR (Extended Reality) technologies, which will be covered in the upcoming event. The session highlighted how XR technologies, particularly Virtual Reality (VR) applications, are used in training processes, why they have become significant in the business world, and the advantages they offer in technical training.
The session emphasized that XR technologies allow high-risk operations to be learned in a safe environment, facilitate the practice of complex tasks, and provide flexibility and scalability in training processes. Additionally, these technologies contribute significantly to transforming theoretical knowledge into practical skills by offering personalized learning opportunities.
The session also included information about VR-based training modules for industrial systems, such as wind turbines. Through these modules, students will be able to experience critical applications such as corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, control systems, and Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures in a virtual environment.
The upcoming event aims to give students a closer understanding of the rapidly growing digital education technologies in the energy sector, experience industry-specific applications, and enhance their professional competencies. Moreover, such events are expected to strengthen university-industry cooperation and contribute to students' career planning.
The pre-event information session was designed to ensure that students are well-prepared for the upcoming training, ultimately aiming to increase the efficiency of the upcoming educational program.
