Applied Transformer Training for Electricity Program Students
An applied transformer training session was conducted in the department laboratory for the students of the Electricity Program within the Department of Electricity and Energy at Balıkesir University Balıkesir Vocational School. During the application carried out using the training transformer previously provided to the department through the collaboration with BEST Transformer, students had the opportunity to closely examine industry-oriented technical practices.
Within the scope of the applied training, particular emphasis was placed on plug-in bushing systems, XLPE cable connections, tap changer structure, and tap calculation. Students practically evaluated connection structures, insulation components, and the transformer tap-changing logic through real equipment used in energy systems.
During the training process, HV bushing connections, XLPE cable applications, voltage regulation logic, and the effects of the tap changer on transformer operating characteristics were technically examined. Thus, students had the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in their courses on real field equipment.
The study, carried out within the framework of the practice-oriented education approach maintained by the Department of Electricity and Energy, made significant contributions to increasing students’ sectoral experience, improving their technical analysis competencies, and strengthening the practical training infrastructure for the 3+1 Workplace Vocational Education Model.
